Project BEST website has been launched

Explore the new website for finding detailed information on why industrial sewage can be a problem in municipal WWTPs and what is done in BEST to overcome these challenges in the Baltic Sea Region.

Project BEST – Better Efficiency for Industrial Sewage Treatment particularly aims to enhance collaboration between municipalities, industry and waterworks, and to promote best practices in the management of industrial wastewater. The project was nominated already before approval for funding as a Flagship Project for the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region's PA Nutri. BEST started in October 2017 and lasts until September 2020.

Project BEST...

  • assesses the current situation of industrial effluents entering municipal waste water treatment plants (WWTP) in the Baltic Sea Region,
  • demonstrates how cooperation between local and regional stakeholders and the implementation of most suitable technological solutions results in better process control and treatment of industrial effluents,
  • develops capacities with thematic workshops, learning material and training concept to support more efficient co-treatment, management and monitoring of industrial waste water and
  • produces Baltic Sea Region wide guidelines for improved management of industrial effluents based on the project results.
