Baltic Sea Challenge project kick off
"Baltic Sea Challenge - Cities for a Healthier Sea" project's kick off event in Helsinki on 7-8 October 2010.
About twenty representatives from the project partner organisations
from Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Sweden will gather to the project's
opening event this week in Helsinki to discuss the project work plan.
The objective is to go through the project plans, timetables and
resources to ensure an efficient start to the project. Also the project
steering group will convene for the first time.
The EU-funded project "Baltic Sea Challenge - Cities for a Healthier Sea" aims to offer project partners ideas and tools on how to build further cooperation and to utilize existing cooperation networks with the objective of a healthier Baltic Sea. Water protection work will become concrete for example through well thought-out action plans and investment plans.
The project has 7 partners: City of Helsinki Environment Centre (LP), Finland; Tallinn City Government Environment Department, Estonia; City of Turku, Finland; Centrum Balticum, Finland; Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, Latvia; REC Estonia, Estonia and Estonian Regional and Local Development Agency, Estonia. There are also three additional partners: Association of Estonian cities, Estonia; Nyköping municipality, Sweden and Union of the Baltic Cities, Finland.
