20 May 2009 European Maritime Day in Helsinki
The European Maritime Day will be celebrated for the second time on
Wednesday, 20 May. Helsinki Maritime Day will be presented in the South
Harbour with the title "See You in the Harbour". There will be events
on Pakkahuone Quay near the Market Hall from 1pm to 5pm with the
present-day maritime theme. The programme contains e.g. rescue and dog
shows and aboard their own vessels e.g. customs, water police, rescue
centre and coast guard are presented.
City of Helsinki
Environment Centre and the Baltic Sea Challenge are presented at the
stands on Pakkahuone Quay. Kino Engel of the Helsinki City Museum will
present the maritime history from 10am to 3 pm and cruise ship Silja
Serenade has open doors at 13-15pm.
